Mortal Kombat is somewhat different for me now. ![]() How can you reflect on your life’s evolution and its interaction with the series?ĮB: I haven’t spent a lot of my time, but mostly in my career making games. Because they’ve always stuck with us, they really inspire the whole game. The biggest surprise I had for myself is that players had come along and stayed with us for so long. I guess that is probably the closest I can say without telling anybody too much. I believe that the last one is not enough. What a place does 2022 find Mortal Kombat?Įd Boon: It finds it celebrating 30 years of being around, being in the public eye. To celebrate that day, I caught up with the affable creator, now the director of MCMG, to talk about his deep roots with the series, and to learn about his learning skills, and explore what you’ve got to do with it and why. And Boon worked on Mortal Kombat for every of those 30 years, a feat that is quite unusual for video game developers. The original Mortal Kombat arcade cabinets were released on October 8, 1992.
